Squatting during delivery is a great way to help move the baby down through the birth canal. The act of squatting gets all of the muscles lined up and opened so that the baby has a straight shot coming down the birth canal.

Giving Birth Squatting

It may seem extreme to squat during labor (especially since you usually dread that move in the gym) but women naturally gravitate towards this position. It just feels right during labor.

Some hospitals even have birthing tables or squat bars. It’s a good idea to ask your OB or midwife about squatting during labor during one of your visits. That way, you’ll be ready!

It is important that, in preparation for and during breastfeeding, mothers eat a healthy, balanced diet. Combined breast- and bottle-feeding in the first weeks of life may reduce the supply of a mother's breastmilk and reversing the decision not to breastfeed is difficult. If you do decide to use infant formula, you should follow instructions carefully.
